History

Martyn Duffield established Duffield Printers Ltd in 1985 and went on to buy out Frederick Duffield & Sons Ltd back from fragmented ownership 1988. The company has since progressed successfully through several technological revolutions and is now well invested and firmly established in the digital age.

In 1870 Frederick Duffield apprenticed as a compositor rising to foreman until 1890 when he begin a business printing engravings of prize bulls on butcher’s carrier bags. During the great depression of 1926 the business became Frederick Duffield & Sons Ltd. Surviving two World Wars and several moves the company is now located on Kirkstall Road.
